Last ride on the old funicular railway

The funicular railway will be closed after Easter Monday. As part of the new construction of the Unterwasser valley station, the funicular railway will also be renovated. While the funicular railway will be put back into operation in the coming winter season, new carriages will travel up to Iltios. It is now time to say goodbye to the old carriages and enjoy the last ride at Easter even more.

How to get to Iltios this summer

With the Alt St. Johann - Alp Sellamatt chairlift and short footpath

While a new valley station is being built in Unterwasser, the easiest way to reach the Iltios is by chairlift from Alt St. Johann via Alp Sellamatt. Follow the quiet, wooded path (no. 9) for around 30 minutes to Iltios, from where various hiking trails or the cable car with the new cabins will take you further.

By shuttle Unterwasser - Iltios

Due to the new construction of the valley station, a bus will take you directly to Iltios in summer 2024. The bus runs every 30 minutes or depending on the number of guests. The departure point and ticket offices are located in the car park of the old valley station in Unterwasser.

There may be waiting times when using the shuttle, which is why the chairlift option is recommended for hikers in particular.

The right ticket for your excursion

The Churfirsten Ticket, the Chäserrugg Ticket and the Klangweg Ticket are still valid on both axes Alt St. Johann - Alp Sellamatt and Unterwasser - Iltios. Consequently, the validity of the tickets remains the same, only the means of transport to Iltios is different this summer.
